NSSA will be running the Australian Space Science Workshop in conjunction with the 7th Australian Space Development Conference from July 15-17. The events will held at the Wentworth Hotel in Sydney.

The Australian Space Science Workshop is the second Space Science Workshop hosted by NSSA. The first, held in July 2001, was extremely successful with a whitepaper on the state of Australian space science produced and forwarded to DISR's International Space Advisory Group. NSSA ran the ran the workshop in order to:

• Take an inventory of Australian scientific interest in space projects
• Consider potential national benefits arising from such participation
• Provide information on currently available funding mechanisms, including government programs, for space-related science projects
• Provide information for the Chief Scientist through the working group
• Raise the profile of space-related science in Australia
• Provide avenues for cross-fertilisation, the building of consortia and networking.

The intent of the Workshop is to involve science and engineering academic professionals from as wide a cross-section of disciplines as possible.

The Australian Space Development Conference is hosted and organised by the National Space Society of Australia. This biennial event brings together representatives of the Australian and International space communities, who share their achievements and vision for the future of the commercial space industry.

As a forum for learning about the latest space developments, and as a place to conduct and create new business, the ASDCs are a unique opportunity to network with space industry leaders from around the world.

Significance for the Participant(s):

Bringing together both the academic and commercial aspects of space, we will create a unique opportunity for students wishing to pursue a space science or engineering career - be it academic or commercial. Both events will provide countless opportunities for students to network with both Australian and international space professionals, business people
and academics.
