The Newcastle Space Frontier Society Newsletter has had a
checkered history. The original newsletters, titled 'Space Frontier News', were published in 1989 and the very early 1990's on an Apple ][c
using an apple desktop publishing application. And you can tell! Editions were
printed on a 9-pin dot-matrix printer and then photocopied for the Members.
Towards the start of 1992, the Newsletter was put together using Adobe Pagemaker 4.0, printed on one of the original Canon BJ-10 Bubblejets, and once again photocopied for the members.
In more recent years, newsletters have become less formal
but nonetheless just as important for disseminating information and news to
NSFS members.
Copies of the original newsletters can be found in the
Newcastle Library, but are a rare find these days.
Newsletters may be released from time to time, but with
the widespread use of the Internet, much of the information can already be
readily accessed directly.
Our newsletter releases these days tend to be more about
informing of upcoming, or reporting on attended events, and may come in the
format of a printed hand-out at our meetings, or in electronic form on our
Emailing List.
